Photograph of the Month: Noctilucent Clouds

This noctilucent cloud photo was taken by Alan Tough overnight on 15th - 16th July from Lossiemouth.This is the perfec time of year to be looking out for this phenomena, but can only be seen later on in the night, or generally, during the early hours of the morning. These steely blue/grey clouds are the highest clouds in the earth's atmosphere. Further images can be seen in our noctilucent cloud gallery.
