public observing session - 28th/29th march 2008
We will be holding two public observing sessions on Friday 28th February and Saturday 29th March. Both events will be held at our observing site at Easterton Airfiled. The gates will be open from 8.30pm and there will be plenty of telescopes at hand to help you look around the night sky.
Please check our website on the day for weather information and opening details.
Please remember that clear skies mean cold nights, so wrap up warm and make sure you have scarf, hat and gloves and warm footwear, so you don't have to cut your observing session short. Children are welcome but no dogs please. No torches!
Here is what Bill Leslie, our events co-ordinator has to say about the event:
"Clear, frosty nights give the best viewing conditions, but clear nights are also the coldest, so dress warmly. Warm boots, thick socks, a hat and gloves are essential and bring a flask with a hot drink if you plan to stay for a while. Members of the club will be on hand with a good number of large telescopes to help you see Saturn at its best. If the weather is clear, dark skies are assured as the Moon does not rise until the early hours of the morning. These are ideal conditions for pointing out galaxies and, some of the most spectacular objects in the sky, star clusters."
