our meeting venue

In October 2004 Sigma was lucky enough to receive funds from the Lottery. This has enabled us to purchase a laptop, projector and screen and means we can now hold our meetings nearer to our observing site at Easterton Airfield, Birnie.

Since April 2005, Sigma has been able to hold its meetings at Birnie Village Hall in Thomshill, and have already had successful viewing opportunities after meetings.

"Doors" open at 7pm and meetings will commence at 7.30pm. Each meeting consists of our "main event" followed by a break and then an information section, including what you can see in the night sky, some current space news and (in winter months) a more in-depth look at some popular constellations. Refreshments, consisting of tea, coffee, juice and biscuits (a small donation is requested!) are served during the break. Non-members are always welcome.

The Birnie Village Hall is located in Thomshill near the distillery and has a bus stop just outside it. Parking is available to the front and rear of the hall.
